Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Hospice Society received a cheque for $75,000 from The Integris Credit Union today to kick off its Home & Heart Campaign.  This was one of two large donations which will give the Hospice Society a total of $859,020 raised to date.

The goal of the campaign is to raise $2.2 million to build an addition of 10 rooms, renovate current space and install a lift system in each bedroom.

Once the Society has reached $1 million it will give instructions to start building the new facility.  Hospice Society Director Donalda Carson is hopeful this $1 million will be reached by September 2008.

Just as a point of interest, how much has the City, the Province or the feds kicked in to this worthy cause? Very little I suspect. Seems to be the politically correct thing to do is to get the public to fund them, such as the current campaign to build a new Children's hospital. At one time medical facilities were built from public funds (taxes). Now they keep raising taxes and still expect joe public to build the facilities. Good luck to the Hospice House, they do wonderful work in this community.
Anxious to see how much the FOREST EXPO AUCTION will generate on friday. Due to the generosity of the loggers and suppliers in the region close to $100,000. is donated at every auction. Many thanks, this is a beautiful facilty and benifits the community greatly.
