Williams Lake, B.C. - The inquest into the shooting death of Donald Lewis has heard from 6 character witnesses about Donald Dwayne Lewis.
Five of the 6 said Lewis was a religious man who never swore. That contradicts the comments made by Constable Cole Brewer who testified, Lewis used the “F” word during their confrontation on August 13th, 2006.
One character witness, Teresa Holaeff, who owned a restaurant in 150 Mile House told of hiring Lewis as a short order cook but dismissed him after a day and a half because he was not doing the job.
She testified that when she initially fired Lewis, he seemed nervous but wasn’t “agitated”. A couple of days later he returned and as she sat outside the restaurant, used the “F” word on at least two occasions to complain about his firing. She also described Lewis as “A time bomb, he was very agitated and I felt uncomfortable around him.”
The Coroner’s jury will hear from an immigration officer this afternoon.
Lewis was shot by RCMP Constable Cole Brewer in August of 2006. Brewer has testified there was a violent confrontation and he fired one shot. Lewis took a bullet in the left of his chest, Brewer then handcuffed Lewis to a tree while he left to get help. Lewis had bled to death by the time Brewer had returned.

I wonder if they had character witnesses for the character witnesses?
