Prince George, B.C. - The host committee for the 2008 BC Seniors Games is looking for a few good people to help out. Actually, they’re looking for a lot of people to help out. With more than 1200 volunteers required to stage a successful BC Seniors Games, the committee is hoping Prince George will step up to the plate. Currently, the committee has about 262 volunteers signed up.

“We know this community has a tremendous volunteer spirit, so we’re looking forward to having as many people as possible help us out, whether it’s for an hour, a day or a month,” says Les Waldie, Chair of 2008 BC Seniors Games.

Waldie says there are ample opportunities for people to get involved, and the rewards are plenty. “Volunteers not only have the chance to catch all the action on the front line of the Games, but volunteering can lead to long lasting personal friendships, valuable work experience and a personal and community pride that lingers long after the Games have completed,” says Waldie.

The host committee is looking for volunteers in virtually every area from on site at the various sport venues to helping out with administrative and organizing  duties in terms of getting all the arrangements in place for the games in September.

I wonder if after all us squawking baby boomers have gone through to the hobbling stage if the seniors games will be still around?

Heehee! Not that baby boomers cared much about leaving anything behind anyway!
