Prince George, B.C. - Time is running out for anyone in Prince George hoping to get some help from the city to remove mountain pine beetle killed trees from their  property.

The program   ends July eleventh and there is no plan to renew it.

For three years, the City of Prince George has partnered with Service Canada to provide local residents with some assistance in dealing with dead pine trees on private residential property. The program also provides on-the-job skills and training to unemployed workers.

This is the final year for the program.

what a bunch of crap! look at all the dead trees in the city! are old folks and limited income people expected to deal with this alone?

This just cracks me up:

"For three years, the City of Prince George has partnered with Service Canada to provide local residents with some assistance in dealing with dead pine trees on private residential property. The program also provides on-the-job skills and training to unemployed workers."

"Some assistance"? What's that? A phone number? Seriously, a lot of palms got greased here and not a whole heck of a lot of work got done. But hey, a few "unemployed workers" learned a new skill - how to kiss ass.
My neighbour says his tree isn't coming down because the city wants him to incur the full cost. (The tree isn't behind his fence). Saw them out there one time measuring. So this tree, although dead won't be taken out because of some stubborn egos...not sure whose ego but the fact remains...
If this tree ever falls, it will either crush a home or crush vehicles on a main road, impede traffic and take out power lines.

Fun eh?
