Prince George, B.C. – Initiatives Prince George recognizes the region is faces employment challenges brought on by the downturn in the lumber industry and the loss of North Central Plywood to a devastating fire.
The face those challenges,  IPG is behind a major job fair taking place today at the Civic Centre.
From noon till 8:00, a variety of groups that have been trying to attract skilled workers to Prince George, will be opening the doors for those who are suddenly unemployed.
Initially, the focus of the event was on opportunities outside of Prince George, but now a number of P.G. organizations have come together to showcase a variety of jobs within the community as well as information on other options available, such as start up loans, education and services to help bridge employment gaps.

Go IPG! I hope we do some good. I'll bet that a few people end up with jobs out of this.

Employment opportunities to bridge gaps?

Oh, Cameron Street Bridge! I get it.

Otherwise it is kind of wait and see...

The ALR is in no rush to release the airport west lands to attract investment to PG. The committee must be getting pressure behind the scenes from Kamloops to kill this PG landscape advantage. Tie up all the land and strangle PG.

And what's taking so long for Canfor to decide whether PG is a good location for a plywood plant?

Is it true that if a business is closed for a period 2 years or longer the union is decertified and the company has the option of re-opening a non-union shop? If this is the case then I would suggest that, even if Canfor rebuilds here, it will take slightly longer than 2 years.

That being said Jimmy P has apparently found a way around this as he is changing stores from Save-On to Price Mart and decertifing them immediately. And now Save-On employees have apparently voted in favor of a strike. This could get ugly (again).
Does anyone still shop at Pattisons stores?
How can you afford his prices?
How can you shop there knowing how he feels about his employees.
They make him millions and he doesn't want them to have benefits or decent wages.
Lets not forget the Canfor way of doing business.

All part of the province wide union busting excersize led by our friendly liberal gov.
