Prince George, B.C. – Travel plans have been altered for anyone travelling to Mount Robson Park or Jasper.

Highway 16 is closed from Junction with Highway 5, in Tete Jaune Cache to the B.C /Alberta Border (79.4 km).

A storm that occurred at 1:00 this morning caused three streams to overflow bringing debris down to the road.

Jeff Knight, Ministry of Transportation says they are currently conducting a geotechnical assessment, “We want to make sure it is safe for crews to go into the area before sending them in.”

Knight says they will have more information later this afternoon regarding the status of when people can continue travel on the highway.

No one was injured in the slide.

Opinion 250 will have more information as it becomes available.
