Prince George, B.C. – The Assistant Fire Chiefs for the City of Prince George, have been given formal recognition and thanks from the City of Prince George for their work on May 26th.
That was the day flames broke out at the North Central Plywood plant, spread to the roof a then hot ash sparked fires at the CN rail ties, and Interior Warehousing.
Mayor Colin Kinsley said when the call went out, 60 firefighters responded, some stayed on shift until the fires were out. “Without your dedication, the fires could have been much, much worse” said the Mayor. He noted how, while all the resources were focused on the BCR Industrial site that night, as luck would have it, there was a fire in a dumpster downtown that threatened the McInnes Lighting store on 4th Avenue. “Firefighters ran to the site on foot to deal with that fire and made sure that fire was out before any further damage could be done.”
The Mayor presented each Assistant Chief with a special plaque that will be displayed at each of the four firehalls.
