Prince George, B.C. – Kudos are in order for two Quesnel citizens who helped prevent a robbery of an elderly woman last night in Quesnel.

Quesnel R.C.M.P attended a call at approximately 7:15pm yesterday where they learned a female attempted to steal the purse of an elderly woman on the foot bridge.

The elderly woman was able to fight the robber off with the assistance of two other Quesnel residents who came to her aid.
The female suspect was able to get away with some items from the woman’s purse, however a short time later another Quesnel citizen contacted the police to advise the whereabouts of the female suspect.
She was located, arrested and held for her court appearance this morning.

Off the bridge with her.
Then, after she gets out this morning we will get to read how she has 9,456 outstanding charges.

3 STRIKES
Where does 3 Strikes come from? Why not 2? Why not 4? What's the basis for that other than "It's what the US does"?
Wonder if this is the same purse snatcher that robbed another woman last week on Front Street ?
Targeting the elderly is lower than low .
Let her go in front of a judge sometime next week, whats the hurry, keep her in cells for a few days to mull things over.
Then theres the drug dealers living on Princeton Cres in College Heights.
RCMP know about them and they are still doing a roaring business.
They back onto Malaspina Elementary school.
You can hear them when they come and go, really loud music from their jeep.
Denial - the 3 strikes rule in the US is similar to being declared a dangerous offender here in Canada. A hearing is held to determine if you should in fact be kept in Prison indefinately. For the states it involves 3 serious felony convictions....in canada several serious indictable offense convictions.
It's the baseball analogy: 3 strikes and your out! You've exhausted your chances of rehabilitation.
But In canada it's more like a hockey game....2 minute penalty...then come out and play again.
Personally, I think 3 strikes makes a lot of sense.

Further, I think if you offend while you are out on bail or already awaiting trial for something else I think should be locked up as clearly you just don't get it....

Don't get me wrong, people make mistakes... hence the 2nd...3rd chance... but I have rights too.
Great headline! Good to know that citizens in Quesnel know who to assist!
Someone told me they burned the alarm phone on the bridge. Howcome it's not getting fixed?
And what happened to all the lights on that bridge, they don't work anymore. That was suppose to be a "tourist attraction"?
A good idea would be to burn that bridge down before they spend millions of dollars on it for restauration.
The alarm phone IS being fixed. But it needs to be re-engineered as the current system used analog cellular which is being shut down in September.
Ok, that's just great, we can expect more robberies in september.
No HD, the system is being engineered now so that it will no longer use the analog system so that it will NOT stop working in september.

That is why it isn't simply being replaced with the old equipment.
