Prince George Cattle Exposed To TB ?
By 250 News
Prince George, B.C. - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has yet to respond to an inquiry from Opinion250 regarding a report a number of cows in the Prince George region were exposed to a Bull alleged to have tested positive for TB at a Quebec slaughterhouse.
After that initial allegation linked the suspect bull to a Vandrhoof area reanch where two other bulls, 47 cows, 17 calves, some goats and a Llama were destroyed by the agency. That ranch is not yet back in production.
It is known that the bull that tested positive for TB in Quebec was exposed to about 25 herd of cattle in the Prince George area last summer. The bull in question had jumped a fence and bred what is believed to have been three heifers. That bull (along with a number of other cattle) was being pastured in the Prince George area as a result of a shortage of grass land in the Vanderhoof area when the incident took place.
A year has nearly passed and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has apparently not quarantined that herd. What the position is with the agency or what their plans are with respect to the Prince George cattle is not known.
Opinion250 placed a call to the agency on Tuesday and was told we would be hearing back from that agency.
