Prince George, B.C.- It is called a Diagnostic Spect CT scanner, and  it is fully operational  at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.This  special piece of equipment was made possible  through  donations made to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

Valued at $1.4 million dollars,  this new piece of equipment can detect cancer, cardio vascular problems and even spot  some types of dementia.

The first patient  to  go through the  scanner  did  so in December, but today  was the first opportunity  for  the  media to  get an up close look at the  scanner.

It can  easily handle any patient  who is  3 feet wide, and 6 foot 6   tall,  and if the patient is taller,  the  bed portion can be extended.

Can we please get angiograms done in Prince George…please?
