Prince George Under Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Sunday, May 24, 2015 @ 11:19 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Prince George area.

The advisory states:

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.

A line of thunderstorms will develop this afternoon northwest of Prince George including Vanderhoof. The main threat will be isolated heavy downpours giving 15 to 25 mm within one hour as well as hail with diameter up to 15 mm. A watch is upgraded to a warning when severe thunderstorms are imminent

Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isn’t a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.

We don’t need anymore lightning…

Yet it’s a beautiful day outside, sun is shining as of 5.30 pm. Thanks again for nothing Environment Canada.

The line of thunderstorms is just north of PG through to Vanderhoof at 6 pm – just be thankful it hasn’t hit you PG101….

By the looks of the radar I would guess it hits us around 8:30 tonight.. Then PG 101 will apologize I am sure…lol

I wonder if PG101 likes the taste of eating his own foot

Going strong now – whole sky to the south east is flashing!

Guessing it’s still sunny skies in PG101s world :)

Sitting outside watching the storm. To cool. Just hope it doesn’t start any more fires from all thus lightning

Oh 101 the storm was predicted for 8 and it was right on time.
