Trail Blazer Arrested in Mackenzie
Mackenzie, B.C.- A 20 year old male will appear in court today to face a charge of arson in relation to two deliberately set fires near the Mackenzie Leisure Centre.
RCMP in Mackenzie say two fires were set on the John Dahl Trail in the evening of Wednesday August 19th. Although spotted quickly, one fire had spread more than ten metres before it was fully extinguished by the Mackenzie Fire Service.
“These fires put the community and first responders at risk, and it is troubling that in the height of fire season, with wild fires burning across the province, someone would deliberately set a fire” says Mackenzie RCMP Corporal James Foyle.
Mackenzie RCMP continue to investigate two other deliberately set fires that happened on the 18th outside Mackenzie near Ganahatz
Anyone with information on any of these fires is asked to contact Mackenzie RCMP at 250-997-3288 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
