Thun Family Donates $5,000 to Salvation Army Back to School Campaign
Prince George, B.C. – For the third year in a row, a Prince George family has stepped up to help needy kids prepare for the upcoming school year.
The Thun family has donated $5,000 to the Salvation Army’s “Back to School” Campaign.
“Prince George is home, and we just want to give a little back to help kids have a great start to the school year,” said Cameron Thun. “And we are very aware of the high cost of school supplies, which is why we have been granting bursaries to four local high school for the past eight years.”
Salvation Army spokesman Bill Glasgow calls the donation “a blessing,” adding “without the generosity we see day after day from our supporters we would have a difficult time doing what we do.”
He says every child who receives a “Back to School” backpack will also get a gift card to help with the rising costs of clothes and shoes.
