Prince George, B.C. – Crews with B.C. Hydro have been dealing with a pair of power outages in Prince George this afternoon, one of which occurred in the bowl area and affected 250 News service.

The outage occurred at 1:35 pm and included an area west of Ash Street, east of Alward Street, north of Porter Avenue and south of Victoria Street.  B.C. Hydro says the outage affected 306 customers and made the 250 News website inaccessible until 3:39 pm.

Then at 1:51 pm an outage affecting 157 customers in the vicinity of North Nechako Road near Toombs Road was reported after a tree came down on a Hydro line.

Winds in the Prince George area have been blowing this afternoon from the south at about 40 km/h, with gusts up to 65 km/h.

Meantime more than 2300 customers are affected by power outages in the Prince Rupert, Port Edward and Kitimat areas, the cause of those outages under investigation.  Another 60 customers are affected by outages in Williams Lake.

Did you know the 5th Avenue Parkade you can’t get your vehicle out when the power fails, and when I phoned the city, the lady said she tried 5 different people in City Hall and couldn’t find anyone to deal with it. As far as I can tell, there is no plan for opening the parkade doors if there is no power. There’s no manual override.

Some people should have their trees assessed, usually some tree huggers tree causes an outage.

Here on the Hart (near Kelly Road school) the power has gone out for just a second or two four times so far, the last time just a minute ago.

ski51 – I’m surprised that doors with no mechanical override are even allowed.

Not he said you can’t get your car out, he did not say you can’t walk out of the parkade.

axman – ah, good point.

Ah , pg in two thousand fifteen with no back up plan , oh well , every bodies doin it . Even twofivezero didn’t have a back up plan . What happens when you get a two day outage ? For starters you lose all of you perishables . Then your freezer starts to thaw out .

I had to go two hours without hearing about a Conservative scandal. I needed a fix.

Ataloss but you are covered with your solar system, right, hello, still there?
