Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George School District’s awards program topped $340,000.00 in 2015.

“One hundred and twenty-nine donors enabled 234 deserving students to receive a total of $342, 075.00 in scholarships and bursaries this year,” said Trustee and Education and Planning Committee Chair Trish Bella.

“Our community partners continue to provide significant support to youth in our district: we are very thankful for these contributions and proud that receiving students will be able to continue learning in the post-secondary environment.”

Bella said 110 students received $1,000.00 Dogwood/District Authority scholarships and schools awarded an additional $26,150.00 in bursaries and scholarships.

She added a record high $179,775.00 in district awards were distributed by the School District Awards Committee in 2015 “as a result of their careful management of donated and earned funds.”

The school district’s award program is available to graduating students in School District 57.

Preparations for next year’s awards are already underway as the awards booklet will be published and sent to school counsellors next month.

The application program will be open for students to apply starting January 31, 2016.
