Green Sworn In as P.G. Mayor
Monday, December 5, 2011 @ 6:08 PM
Shari Green (at right wearing the Chain of Office) took her oath of office just moments ago, starting a new page in the history of Prince George municipal government as she becomes the first woman in 53 years to hold the Mayor’s office. She is also the first candidate in 62 years to have defeated an incumbent Mayor.
What is also different about the Council she will lead, is that there are no other females at the table. Incumbent Debora Munoz was defeated in the election, and while there were other female candidates, none made the cut, clearing the way for an all male Council.
In attendance for the swearing in ceremonythis evening were three former Mayors; Dan Rogers, Colin Kinsley and John Backhouse. Kinsley and Backhouse are Freemen of the City and they were joined by fellow Freemen of the City Reverand Lance Morgan and former Councillor Anne Martin.
The Mayor and Council were sworn in by B.C. Supreme Court Justice Ron Tindale.

I wonder if Brian will have his fingers crossed when he takes the oath.
I wonder how the seating arrangement for the councilors is determined.
Good luck to all!

I can see this site hasn’t changed much, still censoring what we say. What a joke.
I agree with dissident “Booooo!”
I also wonder if Green will lick up the bitumen when there is a leak in this pipeline that is going to be built here?
willyj, that was a tacky statement about the mayors appearence. If it was a man would you also have made such a comment?Let’s play fair at least.
Chain of office needs adjustment. IMO.
She looks pretty good (even with a crooked chain).
yes sewer and water rates, the council was voting on whether to raise them by 58% or 64 %
I think Ms. Green operates on a personality ethic and not character ethic.
“Personality Ethic. Success is a function of personality, of public image, of attitudes and behaviors, skills and techniques, that lubricate the processes of human interaction.”
“Character Ethic. Success depends on things like integrity, humility, fidelity, temperance, courage, justice, patience, industry, simplicity, modesty, and the Golden Rule.”
opinionated,,,,if you are in the public eye and by god, mayor of a city, please put some effort into what you look like, especially while being sworn in. The men on council looked very professional.
