Prince George, B.C. – Later this morning, the Premier and Attorney General will announce who will be the Civilian Chief of the Independent Investigations Office. This is the office which will oversee all serious incidents involving the RCMP in B.C.
The AG, Shirley Bond, told Opinion 250 last week, that the Province was in the final stages of securing the person for the job and that she would make an announcement before Christmas.
The announcement is to come down around 8:30 this morning.
A pre requisite of any applicant for the position is that they must not have ever been a member of the RCMP or any other police force.
Other details of the office have yet to be released, such as annual operating budget and location.
