Be Dazzled By Railway Museum’s Celebration of Lights
A bonfire crackles as part of the Railway & Forestry Museum’s Celebration of Lights
Prince George, B.C. – There are 20-thousand lights glittering throughout the park at the Prince George Forestry & Railway Museum this week, as the venue hosts its annual ‘Celebration of Lights’.
In addition to its daytime hours, the museum is open from 4pm until 8pm right up until Christmas Eve to allow families to spend some time indoors looking at the miniature village that’s bustling with a number of different scenes.
Forestry & Railway Museum Executive Director, Ranjit Gill, says local residents, Lisa Smith and Claudia Nesbit, spent 16-days setting up the beautiful display, which features everything from tiny ice rinks with figure skaters to the Eiffel Tower. Gill says there are a number of choirs scheduled to perform during the celebration and Friday evening there will be a storytime for kids between 6pm and 7pm.
"Santa is here every night, except for the 24th because he has to be up at the North Pole that day preparing," says Gill.
Outside, the festivities include a bonfire – you can purchase hot dogs and s’mores for roasting, the miniature train is awaiting to take visitors on a tour of the lights, and there’s an ice rink for anyone who wants to bring along their skates. (click photo at right for slideshow)
