Holiday Weekend No Break for RCMP

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 @ 1:13 PM

Prince George, B.C.- RCMP in Prince George were busy over the holiday weekend.

Corporal Craig Douglass has scoured all the files generated  since Friday, and has come up with  the following:

On the morning of Friday, December 23rd, Prince George RCMP received a report of an attempted theft of lumber from a business located on the 500 block of Tomlin Road. The gate to the compound of the business had been broken open. Sitting outside the gate was a truck and trailer full of lumber. The truck had damage to the door lock and ignition, suggesting it was stolen. Checks with the registered owner confirmed that both were stolen, but had not been noticed missing yet.  Both the truck and trailer had been stolen from the 900 block of Great Street sometime during the night. Investigators believe the thief or thieves were not able to restart the truck, therefore they abandoned their cache.

Just after 5:00 PM on the 23rd, RCMP received a report of a Break & Enter to a residence on the 1700 block of Norwood Street. Several items taken including two video game consoles, a safe and cash. The Break-in occurred sometime during the day. No suspects.

On Christmas Eve, at approximately 3:30 PM, the RCMP received a report of a Hit & Run Collision at the intersection of Austin Road and Highway 97.  A white Ford F-350 pick-up truck side swiped another vehicle and did not stop. Moments later, the RCMP received a report of a Hit & Run Collision at the intersection of Austin Road and Kelly Road South. A white Ford F-350 pick-up truck rear-ended a vehicle that stopped at a stop sign. The driver of the pick-up fled the area towards Foothills Boulevard. No injuries were reported. The suspect vehicle was not located.

On Christmas Day, at approximately 8:15 PM, RCMP received a report of a pedestrian motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Ospika Boulevard and Massey Drive.  A 14 year old female and a 15 year old male stepped off the meridian into the path of a Chevrolet Cavalier. The two were not using a cross walk and were walking against the flow of traffic. The driver of the vehicle swerved to avoid the pedestrians, but was unable to prevent a collision on the driver side of the vehicle. The female was taken to the University Hospital of Northern BC for treatment of a broken ankle. She was treated and released. The male suffered lacerations to the face and possibly a broken nose. He was transported to hospital where he remained overnight.  Both pedestrians received Motor Vehicle Act charges.

On Boxing Day, at 7:30 PM, RCMP responded to a report of two males breaking into a Freightliner Truck on the 8900 block of Sintich Road in Prince George. Officers attended, located and arrested two males aged 18 and 37.  The 37 year old was released for court in February 2012. The 18 year old, Skyler Dwayne Brennan, was held in custody for court later today facing charges of Theft under $5000 and Mischief Under $5000.

At least the downtown core is safer now :)

Crime Capital of Canada what did they expect?

All important intersections should be monitored by recording surveillance cameras facing in all four directions. That way these scums can be easily identified after the crimes and swiftly arrested.

what were those teenagers doing? I know…texting. Gotta feel for the driver though.

Wow I can remember a time before cell phones. When the grass was green and there was never an accident in all the land.
