Road Side Checks Stepping It Up For New Year’s

Thursday, December 29, 2011 @ 11:13 AM
Prince George, B.C.- RCMP are gearing up their Counter Attack program to be in full force in time for New Year’s Eve.
“We will have a full compliment of officers on the roads in Prince George tonight, tomorrow night and on New Year’s Eve” says North District Staff Sergeant Pat McTiernan.
McTiernan says the teams will be operating stationary road checks, rolling checks, and regular enforcement, to ensure drinking drivers stay off the roads. “If it’s moving, we will be pulling it over” says McTiernan “If you choose to drink and drive, expect to face the consequences.”
People who want to party can take advantage of Operation Red Nose, which expects to have at least 2 dozen teams working. They will take you and your vehicle home.
Prince George Transit will be operating regular transit service on New Year’s Eve until 7 p.m, and then free service until 3 a.m. on New Year’s day.

If we drink and drive we will face what consequences? The 21 year old who put the Dawson Creek woman in the hospital won’t face much. Who are wekidding? There is no justice. You have to be Ledgebokoff to go to jail.

From my experience there is a lot more hype than road blocks and cops out there this holiday season. I have not encountered one road block and very few cops out there.

We drove all over town on christmas eve looking at xmas light displays and never saw one cop car.

Seems to me like they have budgeted a lot more money to advertise that the cops will be out there, than actually putting them on the road.
