Operation Red Nose Ready for the BIG Night

Prince George, B.C. – Operation Red Nose has a full compliment of teams set to help New Year’s revellers make it home safely.
It’s expected between 28 and 32 teams will be out tonight to make sure those who are partying, and their vehicles, make it home safe.
“Our call for volunteers for New Year’s Eve worked with 13 new applicants which will go a long way in helping us get everyone home safely on our busiest night of the year” says Andrea Johnson, Coordinator for Operation Red Nose.
Clients can call Operation Red Nose from 9 p.m. tonight to 4 a.m. tomorrow morning. There will be six volunteers answering phones. The number to call is 250-962-RIDE (7433).
Volunteers will work in shifts on New Year’s Eve with about 10-15 road teams ready to go by 9 p.m. and the remainder will be out on the road by 11 p.m.
Last year, they provided 273 rides on New Year’s Eve. So far this year, they have provided 740 rides and travelled 18,347 kilometers criss-crossing the city of Prince George and the outlying areas.
Prince George Transit is offering free transit service after 7 tonight until 3.a.m. New Year’s Day.
