Prepare For The Plunge

Prince George, B.C. – What better way to kickstart 2012, than by taking part in the 10th Annual Polar Bear Dip at Ness Lake tomorrow?
Approximately 40 people felt it was the best way to bring ‘clarity’ to the new year last January 1st, and organizers at the Ness Lake Bible Camp are hoping for a strong turn-out tomorrow, given the mild temperatures. Environment Canada is calling for a downright balmy plus-2 tomorrow.
Program Intern Ruth Jutzeler says most people do register on the day of the dip – there is a registration fee of $20, but that fee is waived for anyone who raises more than that amount in pledges. She says last year’s dip raised three-thousand-dollars for the camp’s summer staff honorarium fund to assist those camp leaders returning to their post-secondary education in the fall.
Registration will begin at the Welcome Centre at the camp at 1:45pm tomorrow, with prizes for best costumes and highest pledges being handed out in the camp’s gym between 2pm and 2:30pm. (For directions, click here for NLBC’s website)
From there, the brave participants and their supporters will make their way onto the ice for a truly northern way of ringing in the New Year.

20 bucks to go jump in a frozen lake?
I don’t think so, I question that even in the summer.
Good on those that are thick skinned and all.
