Prince George, B.C. – Surrey RCMP are confirming this afternoon that the Vancouver Police Department has been called in to conduct an independent investigation into an ‘in-custody’ death.
RCMP say the 58-year-old man was arrested for breaching a court order on December 23rd. Jail staff called in Emergency Health Services personnel – who had been there on an unrelated matter – three days later, when the man laid down on the floor of his cell.
He was transported to hospital where he passed away yesterday.
Surrey RCMP are not releasing any further details.
