New Fortis Centre Up and Running

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 @ 3:59 AM
Prince George, B.C.- Today is the third day that the Fortis  Customer Service centre on 2nd Avenue is actually in operation.

The 100 new employees were ready to accept incoming calls on January 1st, and are now in a position to make the out going customer service calls as well.

The employees are the successful    candidates of the more than 13 thousand who applied for one of 300 jobs being offered by Fortis. 100 of those positions are in Prince George, the other 200 at the new centre in Burnaby.

The building at 2nd and George Street in Prince George, underwent  $4 million dollars worth of renovations .  ( at right,  one of the newly renovated hallways  in the new centre. Wood has been featured in the renovations)

The project is viewed as a “catalyst” project for development in the downtown core.

Fortis expects to hold a grand opening of their facility later this month.

Thank-you, IPG for your work in making this happen.

Alot nicer than ACS and better paying postions.

and for what purpose?
Cheers

Guess I didn`t get the job,oh well I`m just looking for something to take me retirement so I can start a grow op…

13,000 applied for 300 jobs. Wow!!! That is more than 43 applicants per position.

Modern customer service – complaints, billings, service connections and disconnection, etc. etc.

People could actually be working out of their home “offices”.

But hey, even the Romans liked to keep everyone together in the ships not only rowing but also rowing in synch.

Of course, the modern digs have to be a bit better otherwise we would not have 43 people competing for the same rowing job.

;-)

Well said Icicle, thanks to Tim and the rest of the crew at IPG for sealing the deal. A tip of the hat should also likely go to city officials as well as our previous Mayor as I heard he was active in ensuring they considered PG when they started to look around for a city to put the contact centre.

Nice reasonably paid jobs from what I hear. Add in the millions worth of construction on the renos and the fact that they actually purchased the building, and this is pretty good news.

Isn’t it 2nd and Dominion in the old E.I. office?
