Willow River Home Destroyed By Flames
Flames glow on the site where the Erickson home stood in Willow River
Willow River, B.C.- A Willow River family of four is without a home, after flames destroyed their house this afternoon.
Regional District Director for Willow River , Kevin Dunphy, says a woman came into his store late this afternoon saying "the house is on fire, the house is on fire" and he placed the calls to 9-1-1 and the volunteer fire department.
The home, located next to the old gas station in Willow River on the south side of the bridge, folded in on itself as flames ate away the support, "It is just ashes now" says Dunphy.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Dunphy says the Regional District will be offering the family some emergency assistance for temporary accommodation, and he is hopeful the family will be able to rebuild. Dunphy is setting up a collection jar at his store with the hope friends and neighbours will offer a helping hand to the family which has lost everything.
