Logging Truck Collision on 97 Near Tallus

Prince George, B.C.- The driver of a logging truck was taken to hospital in Prince George with non life threatening injuries following a collision on highway 97 north near Tallus Road.
Two logging trucks had collided just before 8:00 this morning about 55 kilometres from Prince George.
One driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the University Hospital of Northern BC by the BC Ambulance Service. The other driver was unhurt.
Officers believe that a logging truck pulled off of the Chachinka Forest Service Road onto Highway 97 and ws struck by a southbound fully loaded logging truck that was unable to stop.
Both logging trucks were registered to the same company.
The highway was closed to traffic for approximately one hour as logs needed to be off loaded one of the trucks for safety reasons before traffic could be allowed through.

It looks like the new years resolution for most drivers in 2012 was to shut off their brain.
Well, at least the insurance situation will be simple since both trucks belong to the same company.
The Chachinka is a small tight road that comes out onto the highway on a corner. The roads up there with freezing rain and no sand don’t add up well for stopping if a stranger in a slow moving logging truck pulls out onto the ice road trying to get moving… being that they both work for the same companies is irony lol, but it could have been anyone.
On another note I think PG gets ripped off when it comes to lighting of major intersections and through fares for the highways in our city. Roads like Estavilla in the Hart and all down the Hart in fact… with the level of traffic and lack of shoulder room or proper sidewalks one would think good lighting would be more of a priority….
The Chachinka is far from a small tight road. It is in fact an adaquatly wide road which pulls onto the highway south of Bear Lake and has ample visibility from any corner on the highway. This sounds like hotdogging by 2 drivers from the same company trying to prove something to each other. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence they are from the same company. I have used that road many times for recreation purposes and have never ever seen a problem seeing when it comes to pulling onto the highway.
Same employer for both drivers. Must be some rivalvry going on there.
could be alittle bit of “in house competition” alright but I know for a fact the road between PG and Bear Lk were very slippery yesterday morning. I never met a plow truck until Windy Point. Lots were parked at Bear Lk though, must of been shift change haha
