Mild, But No Record Breaker

Thursday, January 5, 2012 @ 4:00 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The weather has been mild, but not quite mild enough to break a record.

Yesterday, the temperature climbed to 7 degrees Celsius, not quite warm enough to break the old “high” of 7.8 degrees set on that date in 2003.

On Tuesday we also came very close, with a high of 5.6 degrees, nearly matching the record of 5.8 degrees.

The rapid melt has meant slushy conditions which caused serious road conditions on highway 16 through Smithers to Terrace yesterday. There were slippery sections, areas where water was pooling, and plenty of slush.
The forecast for Prince George calls for mild temps through the weekend, but a chilling down  early next week.

The YRB plow / sanding truck plowed my road on New Year’s Day even though it didn’t need it. Now that the road is a sheet of ice they’re no where to be seen. I guess they only go out when it’s overtime?

I don’t know how any organization can deal with the neighborhood ice, but it has been very icy for the past few weeks. I worry about the seniors who can’t afford a fall.
I fell just putting my trash can on the street. It’s time to leave my ice grips on at all times when I am outside. Even though I have studs on my tires, I have still had problems in some areas.
