More Charges Expected in Weekend Arson Fire

Prince George, B.C. – Further charges are expected in connection with a weekend fire in the city following word the elderly victim in the blaze has died at University Hospital.

 

Prince George RCMP confirm that the 85-year-old man seriously injured in the house fire in the 2700 block Merritt Road has died of his injuries. Investigators have determined the fire was arson. An arson charge has been laid against 49-year-old Frank William Marion, a tenant of the residence. Police say that Marion has a significant history with them and add that further charges will be recommended as a result of the elderly victim’s death.

 

The RCMP says the 85-year-old man was a prominent member of the local Sikh community. His name has not yet been released.

 

The fire at 3 Saturday morning did extensive damage to the large house on Merritt Road, off Westwood Drive.
