Prince George, B.C. – Premier Christy Clark was greeted with a capacity crowd standing on its feet as she took to the stage today to address delegates to the Northern Resource Forum in Prince George.

Clark spoke of the hard work of Northern families, and the reality of their hard work being the heartbeat of the economy of the province.

While reiterating her families theme, which was focused on the Canada Starts Here Job Action Plan, the Premier did say the Province will soon unveil its policies and plan for the development of the Liquefied Natural Gas industry (LNG) which she says will be a game changer for the province.

She says the province is committed to having one LNG plant operating by 2015 and three up and running by 2020.
The first plant would be in Kitimat, and is designed to run off electricity. B.C. Hydro is expected to provide the bulk of the power. The bulk of supply of natural gas would come from the northeast fields in north east B.C. at  the rate of 1.4 billion cubic feet per day.

Once the natural gas has been liquefied (massive cooling), it would be shipped to Asian markets.

The Asian markets are expected to increase in demand for natural gas by 50% by the next decade and the prices for the product are 4times what they are in Canada.

The final investment decision has not yet been made, but the federal energy board has issued a license for the plant to export up to 10 million mega-tonnes of LNG per year.

The final investment decision will likely be made over the next few months however there has already been a great deal of construction activity on the 100 acre site in Bish Cove.

So we sell coal, natural gas and oil and pay carbon tax???????

Oh right proceeds of the idiotic tax go to friends of the fiberals.

For those of you who dont like the Americans this is an American Project, Apache Gas, and EOG Both big American Companies with Cdn subsiduaries.

Note that the electricity for these projects will be supplied by Hydro. Hmmmmm, doesnt Hydro have a shortage of power? I suspect that before this is over these plants will be used as an excuse for Alcan to restart Kemano 2, and if so, you can kiss the Nechako River goodbye, as it will be turned into one massive gravel pit.

In addition it will be used to convince people that we have to have Site C.

Interesting times coming.

A head start on Friday Free For All;

“Game Changer”
the latest buzz phrase.
Some old former media favourites:
“Where the rubber meets the road”
“Blue Sky Thinking”
“Greenfield”
“Brownfield”
I tire of hearing the same clever phrase being repeated ad infinitum, or until the next one is uttered by some talking head.

metalman.

Hydro does not have a shortage of power. Don’t forget the billions that will be payed out to Independent power producers to build their plants.
