Prince George, B.C. – It’s a one-stop shop of the health-variety for local kindergarten students, as the 16th annual Health Day Circuit begins later this week at the Northern Interior Health Unit.

The circuit is sponsored by Northern Health and School District 57 and provides immunization; vision, dental and hearing screenings; as well as injury prevention and nutritional information.  Approximately 1,000 five-year-olds will be making their way through the different venues over the course of the 13-day event, which begins on Tuesday and runs weekdays until February 2nd.

Public Health Nursing Program Manager, Karen Wonders, says, "The Health Day Circuit is a fun and effective way to help parents assess the health of their kindergarten-aged children.  Parents are offered further suppport if their child is found to be in need.

"This is a creative and efficient way to ensure that our youngest learners get off to a healthy start," says Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George-Valemount.

SD#57 Superintendent Brian Pepper says, "(The circuit) helps young children get off to a healthy start with their school career, so they can effectively learn as much as possible about the world around them."
