Time For A Taste Of Winter

The grip of Old Man Winter’s icy fingers are about to tighten on the city and region

Prince George, BC –  So far this season, Old Man Winter has been relatively mild-tempered, but his mood plummets today…

Environment Canada is warning of a risk of frostbite today, as the thermometer plunges to a high of just minus-16.  However, it will feel like a biting minus-31 with the wind chill.

Tomorrow, there will be periods of snow, but it will remain cold.  The temperature will stick at minus-24 overnight and rise to a high of just minus-21.  And the deep freeze settles in…

Tuesday is calling for a mix of sun and cloud, but overnight lows will be in the minus-28 range and climb just slightly to a high of minus-23.  The mercury drops to minus -32 overnight Wednesday, the day will be sunny, but the temperature will once again hold steady at minus-23.

A little bit warmer by Thursday and Friday with forecast highs of minus-18 and minus-17, respectively.  A look at Environment Canada’s historical data showed a record high yesterday of 10.6 degrees Celsius, set in 1968.  At the opposite end of the thermometer, the record low of minus-48.3 degrees was set back in 1953.  And with our snowpack melting into hard-crusted ice, it’s worth noting the most snow on the ground was recorded in 1966, when there was 66-centimetres.

brrrr..

Life here in Puerto Vallarta has been cold too. Sometimes, if I’m out late at night, I will bundle up in long pants and a light sweatshirt. We don’t expect to get back to Canada until mid April. We left PG in the spring of 2007 and have never regretted it.

Good for you but who really cares

Also good for you but I happen to like snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing so happen to enjoy winter.

culturevulture, good thing that you are enjoying your life in Puerto Vallarta. I am born and raised in the north and sometimes wonder if I could handle not having winter. Maybe when I get old :)

I can understand someone with a handle like “beachvulture” leaving PG and settling for some length of time in Puerto Vallarta, but am wondering about “culturevulture”. ;-)

So when we are getting our REGULAR weather, don’t you think we shouldn’t have to pay carbon tax. I think every time we hit -20 it should be ” no carbon tax day ” Eh!
