Prince George, B.C.- Over the past couple of weeks, more than one Opinion250 reader has reported receiving a call from a political survey taker. The caller asks if the person answering the phone is a supporter of Christy Clark.
While there is no definitive sign that a provincial election will take place before the scheduled date of May 14th 2013, at least one New Democrat is getting ready for the ballot.
Prince George lawyer, Bobby (Sarbjit) Deepak has announced he is seeking the NDP nomination for the riding of Prince George-Mackenzie.
There has been no date set for a nomination meeting in the riding but it is expected to be called within the next couple of months.

Had that phone call yesterday! Asking for support of $200, told the lady I like her but mot that much.
Lots of things going on. If I was a betting man I would say an election in the spring is a distinct possibility.
The only fly in the ointment is the HST. I dont see how they can go into an election with the HST issue hanging out there. On the other hand the longer they wait, the stronger the Conservatives, get, the more likely it is that there will be some independents running, and the more likely that the vote will be split and they will lose.
Christy/Gordo and the Fiberals have literally lied and BSed the voters so much I just wanna puke!
No offense to Mr. Deepak, becuase I have no knowledge of him whatever, but I’m tired of lawyers assuming political rolls. I think the last thing we need is another ex-lawyer politico.
For a change I’d like to see more people with actual tangible skills (other than being a practiced talking head) to take up political rolls; like electritians, carpenters, mechanics, accountants, scientists, etc… People with pragmatic problem solving skills, that know what it’s like to earn a living wage.
Mr. Deepak seems to be a labour lawyer, which may give him some insight into the problems of ordinary people. In any case, it isn’t clear to me that lawyers are a problem. Gordon Campbell isn’t a lawyer, nor Christy Clark, nor Stephen Harper, nor Preston Manning, nor Glen Clark, nor Carole James, nor Colin Kinsley.
One less lawyer out and about getting elected? How will we ever cope with one less lawyer out there? Let it be known that a good lawyer can separate pepper from fly crap WITH boxing gloves on. So there!
