Burns Lake Mayor Calls for Community to Pull Together

Burns Lake, B.C.-  The Mayor of Burns Lake has issued a brief statement  about the tragic events of  Friday evening:

 

“Our community is in the midst of dealing with a serious incident. We have crews on site providing the necessary measures and surrounding communities are providing additional resources.

Just after 8:00  Friday evening an explosion rocked the Babine Forest Products mill east of Burns Lake.  It is believed  28 people were injured,  unconfirmed reports suggest as many as three are  missing.

Emergency services from Smithers to Prince George have responded to the disaster.  Further details are expected to be released  later Saturday morning.

Family members seeking information about their loved ones,  have been asked to go to the Margaret Patrick Memorial Hall.

 

This is a difficult time for our community and we need to pull together to ensure we provide the best support possible. Every individua, ltheir families, and all those involved are in our thoughts.”
