Council To Examine Core Review Plan

Prince George, B.C.- The details for the Core Review will be examined by Prince George City Council this evening. The plan calls for a final report to be presented to Council in September of this year.
The Core Review Select Committee which will be chaired by Mayor Green, is made up of Councillors Albert Koehler, Frank Everitt and Cameron Stolz.
The actual work by a consultant is expected to start in April.
Also on the agenda for this evening’s regular meeting of Council, deals with requests from two Councillors be denied.
Councillor Garth Frizzell had requested the Finance and Audit committee examine the possibility of releasing publicly the Freedom of Information requests and results. The Finance and Audit Committee says the release of such information is covered by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
As for Councillor Brian Skakun’s request that more detailed expense reports be made public, the Committee says more detailed reports would be costly in staff time, but recommends the existing disclosures be placed on the City’s website in a spot where the public can more easily access the information.
Council will also examine a request from the Prince George Exhibition for a grant of 100 thousand dollars for the PGX’s 100th anniversary ( see PGX Seeks Funds ), and will receive a report from the Mayor outlining Council’s priorities for this term ( See Council Sets Priorities).

So we get to pay $350,000 for a 5-6 month audit. So we are paying approx $60,000 a month for this. Way to be prudent with our tax dollars Green Spender. Well at least we know our new mayor already knows how to waste our tax dollars.
Who is the consultant and did this go up for bid?
Why a core review> Bates is already conducting a core review to cover his butt.
Cheers
But ….. here is the report going to Council. These things take time and you will see the topic on the agenda a few more times this year, I am sure.
The bidding process is expecteed to happen during February and March according to the report.
BTW, the council agenda part on the City web page is relatively handy to access from the home page. I encourage everyone to look there for the detailed info.

For those who have also read this morning’s opinion from Peter Ewert, you might be interested to know that the review process identifies the following for consultation:
“designing and implementing internal and external engagement strategies to elicit input from elected officials, the public, and exempt and unionized staff through the process;”
I think any review these days without that inclusion would not be cridible and would be dead in the water from the start.
