Prince George, B.C. – Eleven people injured in Friday night’s explosion and fire that leveled the Babine Forest Products sawmill near Burns Lake remain hospitalized today.

The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority says four patients remain under care at Vancouver General Hospital. Two are in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit while two are listed as stable in the Burns, Plastics and Trauma Unit.   The Vancouver Island Health Authority says one person from the Burns Lake disaster is listed as stable in the Burn Unit at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Two patients were transferred over the weekend to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. An official there confirms that they have two patients, however he says he does not have the consent of the injured or their families to release information on their condition.   At last word Northern health had four patients in its care, three listed as stable at University Hospital in Prince George and one listed as stable at St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof.

Two workers at the mill died in the explosion and fire. Their remains have now been recovered but it will be some time before they can positively be identified.
