The College of New Caledonia’s Burns Lake campus has put additional counseling and support services in place to help those affected by the tragic accident at Babine Forest Products.

“Our thoughts are with the students, individuals and families who are directly impacted by this tragedy” said CNC President John Bowman. “The College is looking to support the community in any way that we can.”

Those in need of counseling and support services can call 250-692-1700 for information and assistance.

“Classes are running as usual at the campus, however the College is encouraging students who may need some special considerations or assistance due to these circumstances to contact their instructor or counsellor to discuss options if needed,” said Joan Ragsdale, Regional Director.

Starting today (January 24) the College is providing a site for Services Canada to set-up an additional location for Babine Forest Product workers needing computers and/or assistance with filling out needed Employment Insurance forms.  Support will be available in Room 114 at the Burns Lake Campus from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until February 3.

In response to the emerging community requests for new training opportunities, the College will also be working together with government, Industry, First Nations and others in the community to ensure the needed resources are in place to meet future training needs.
