Probably just making a sudden “U” turn to chase a speeder heading north, seen it happen many times before, no warning just flick the lights on and do the turn. No regard for other traffic. The speed limit should be raised form the bridge north to 70k anyway. Figured that would have happened when they twinned the bridge.
Of course I’m just speculating.

They get more speeding ticket revenue from lower speed limits in areas where the limits are too low. They are not about to increase the limits to decrease their daily take.

Just happy to hear that no one was hurt. If the police officer, and I say IF, was chasing a speeder then all the more power to him/her. I don’t think they spend enough time on the Hart Highway catching speeders. I would like to see them out there more, even if it means catching me. I don’t speed excessively but a lot of people do as well as tailgate dangerously, cut in and out of traffic unsafely, etc.

The city of PG gets about a quarter million bucks from the RCMP a year. Based on how much revenue they pull in from vehicle infractions. Maybe someone at city hall encourages the Mounties to go for every last nickel out there in motorists pockets. Easier than getting money from gangsters and drug dealers. Besides, our city is addicted to spending above their means. To wit: $111 million dollars in debt.

The police car was obviously rear ended so don’t blame the cop.

I saw a cop with someone pulled over in the southbound exit lane down onto north nechako on tuesday late afternoon. First thing I thought was that was a really stupid place to have someone pull over. Anyone exiting and not paying attention would rearend the copy doing about 50/60, not to mention the car that was in front of the cop car. They should get on thier blowhorn and make sure the driver pulls over where it is safe to do so.

Me? No matter where or when I saw the lights I would pull over immediately no matter where. I don’t want the cop to think I was trying to get away from him. Could happen.

Man, if they put the speed limit to 70 there’d be a heck of a lot more accidents at Hofferkamp Rd. Drivers are already doing 80 past there, it’s difficult. Then you have a whole whack of streets entering on to the Hart, plus kids everywhere, but no, everybody’s a professional driver, raise the speed limit. Sorry can’t go along with that. The reason it is at 60 is trying to avoid accidents and deaths. With this accident, looks like someone was darn near chasing the PC.

I hope the member involved was not hurt to badly and I wish them a speedy recovery. My guess is that kind of accident is always in the back of their minds everytime they have to pull any one over. Take care and get well.

Slim, I said raise the limit from the bridge to 70 like it is the rest of the way up the Hart after the Mohawk. You must be one of those that drive 60 in the left lane all the way past the Mokawk to North Kelly

Acrider, yer dead wrong, last thing I’m gonna do is drive like a fool. Curb lane and drive defensively, keep up with the flow of traffic. Get a chuckle out of the ones flying only to see them getting a ticket up ahead. Problem is the amount of residential streets, kids etc. If folks would concentrate on their driving it’d be a lot safer out there.
I do think it’s odd that it’s 60 where there’s hardly any streets entering the highway then up to 70 where there are a lot of streets and kids.
