Pedestrian Killed In New Hazelton By Suspected Impaired Driver

New Hazelton, B.C.- A 34 year old woman is facing charges of impaired driving causing death after a collision in northwestern BC over the weekend.
New Hazelton RCMP were called out to Gitwangak shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday morning after reports came in that a Chevy pickup with a female driver and four passengers struck a pedestrian on West Kitwanga Road. RCMP say the male pedestrian was confirmed dead at the scene as family members and witnesses converged on the site.
New Hazelton RCMP and Criminal Crash Investigation Team members secured the scene of the crash for reconstruction efforts. 
The driver of the pickup was arrested and remains in custody.
The victim’s name has not been released.
