Ambulance Driver Facing Charge In Hwy 16 Collision
Prince George, B.C. – Houston RCMP say a driver with the BC Ambulance Service is facing a charge of driving too fast for road conditions in connection with a collision with a tractor-trailer unit on Highway 16 last night.
RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Scott Watson, says the ambulance had been transporting a patient from Burns Lake to Smithers when the collision occurred approximately one-kilometre west of Houston.
Corporal Watson says the ambulance had been attempting to pass the tractor-trailer, the vehicles connected, and both slid into the ditch. He says no one was injured in the collision.
Road conditions were slippery at the time. Corporal Watson believes the tractor-trailer unit may have spilled its load, reducing the route to single lane alternating traffic for a few hours last night, while clean up occurred.
