IPG Boss Announces His Resignation

Monday, January 30, 2012 @ 11:39 AM

Prince George, BC – The President and Chief Executive Officer of Initiatives Prince George, Tim McEwan, has announced he’s leaving the organization to pursue what he says are "exciting new opportunities"…

In an email, McEwan says his last day will be February 17th – four years to the day that he started at IPG.

"I note that the Northern Decade of economic opportunity that IPG has advocated for over the last four years is now firmly upon us," he writes.  "Capital projects planned and underway in Prince George’s service and supply region tally well into the multiple billions of dollars.  Well paid family-supporting jobs abound, and the prospect of real gains Prince George’s population and tax-base is on the horizon."

McEwan goes on to thank the many people he’s worked with over his time at IPG, including its board members, local MLAs Pat Bell and Shirley Bond, and staff at City Hall.

"I am also very appreciative of the support I received from Mayors Colin Kinsley and Dan Rogers and their respective City Councils."  McEwan continues, "As Mayor Shari Green and the new City Council begin their term, I wish them every possible success."

McEwan does not say just what his future holds, but says, ‘Stay tuned!"

Goody, goody another free loader gone.
Cheers

Don’t get too excited Retired02; he will be replaced by another “free loader” (as you put it).

You are both nuts! Tim Mc Ewan is an extremly bright and talented man. We need him in PG.

I never said he wasn’t bright and or talented. I merely said he will be replaced.

Capital projects planned and underway —“multiple billions” wow!! Initiated by IPG? Advocated? Makes me dizzy.

No surprise at all. I wouldn’t want to be a part of something that many see as a waste of taxpayer money. Best of luck to Mr. McEwan.

How much does he get for severance?
metalman.

severance has to do with be let go, not quiting.

Sad to see McEwan go. Unlike a number of pretenders that have been a drag on PG (most notably Dan Rogers as mayor and his various patronage appointments), Tim was the real deal.

Bye Tim. He will probably land on his feet with a BC Liberal patronage job :)

If he lands on his feet with the Liberals, it will be because of his ability to get things done, not patronage.

What did he do besides attend a lot of conferences on the taxpayer dime and take credit for economic happenings well beyond any influence he had in the matter?

Oh yeah, he produced a weekly newsletter regurgitating federal employment and home start stats–a template newsletter that a trained monkey could have populated. Oh yeah, he signed a contract pissing away $400K of our money to Horizon Air in the self-righteous belief that anybody from the beautiful Emerald City would want to weekend in PG on a regular basis. Oh yeah, he used his position and inflated sense of self-worth to lobby for for the HST on behalf of his Liberal buddies…completely outside his jurisdiction as head of IPG and against the majority of civic constituents.

Good riddance!

OMG bohemian I’m not sure what you are smokin but I don’t recall our previous mayor dollin out any “patronage appointments”. You must be watching too much federal or provincial politics. Though come to think if it our new mayor did handpick a new “business committee” and stacked it with her election campaign supporters so maybe you are right and just have the wrong mayor.

As for mcewan, he seemed to work hard promoting pg and the north. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up.
