Langley High School Lockdown Ends Without Incident
Prince George, B.C. – After an extensive search of Langley Secondary School, RCMP have lifted a lockdown that kept students and staff in their classrooms for several hours today…
Corporal Holly Marks says, "Based on the information received when the report of a firearm was called in anonymously, police responded with an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of all staff and students."
She says police searched carefully, using the assistance of a Police Dog Services integrated team, and did not locate any weapons or other dangerous items during the lockdown.
Concerned parents were being asked not to phone Langley RCMP during the incident, instead they were being directed to an arena near the school where a support team was standing by to field questions.
"Our thanks to the media, who helped us get out accurate information, and to the parents for their patience during this stressful event," says Corporal Marks. "We’re happy we could wrap this up quickly and that the students and staff were safe."
