Prince George, B.C. – RCMP have cordoned off a vacant property in the community of Fort St. James to investigate suspicious findings…
RCMP ‘E’ Division Senior Media Relations Officer, Sergeant Rob Vermeulen, will not offer any comment on the nature of those findings, saying it’s too early in the investigation. As to whether a resident of the community made the discovery, Sergeant Vermeulen will only say RCMP were acting on information received when they went to the property on Lower Road, whichs runs along Stuart Lake in Fort St. James yesterday afternoon.
Vermeulen says officers from the RCMP’s North District Major Crime in Prince George are at the scene assisting Fort St. James officers and members with Forensic Identification Services are now on-site, as well.
"We are aware that there are a number of ongoing investigations in the area, but it would be irresponsible for anyone to jump to any conclusions or make any connections until investigators have had a chance to properly and thoroughly assess and document the scene."
Vermeulen says further details will be released as they become available. Fort St. James is approximately 150-kilometres west of Prince George, along Highway 16.
