Prince George, B.C. – The North District Major Crime Unit and B.C. Coroners Service are continuing their efforts to determine how and why a Vanderhoof man ended up dead in a vacant home in Fort St. James.
28-year-old Fribjon Bjornson was last seen at a convenience store in Vanderhoof in the early morning hours of January 12th. He wasn’t reported missing until January 21st. His blue 1990 Chevrolet pickup was found near Fort St. James on January 23rd. Last Wednesday, Feb 1st, someone called the Fort St. James RCMP detachment and reported finding human remains in a vacant house on Lower Road on the Nak’azdli reserve in the town. The site was secured and cordoned off and Major Crime and Forensic Identification Services began the search for evidence.
One Saturday, Cpl. Annie Linteau at “E” Division Communications in Vancouver confirmed that the remains are those of Fribjon Bjornson. Asked whether the death is considered a homicide, Cpl. Linteau says “it is suspicious, but I’m not going beyond that as further investigation is required.” She says forensic analysis was conducted and that led to the positive identification of Mr. Bjornson as the victim. Cpl. Linteau would not say if there were any marks or wounds on the body which pointed to a possible cause of death. She says the coroner’s office has joined the police investigation and the cause of death and other matters will be parts of that investigation. A date for an autopsy has not yet been established.
The RCMP is asking anyone who may have seen Bjornson or his vehicle after he was reported missing, or who may have information about his death, to call the Fort St. James RCMP at (250) 996-8269 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

may he rest in peace
I hope this is not another one of those cases where the police. find three bullet wounds in the back of the head and determine it to be: “the worst case of suicide they have ever seen!” At this point, it appears he gave a ride to someone who bummed one from him and then they killed him and abandoned the vehicle away from the murder site so as to not be caught so easily. Pure speculation, but that is more then the rcmp of reporters have? My only wish is that they catch this killer. One thing about Canadian Justice, it is no deterrent from any form of crime. Especially when the criminals have more rights than the victims!
Western…RCMP are investigating a serious criminal activity. They can’t give out all details of the case. Please pray for his family. Go to the Missing Fribjon Bjornson page on Facebook to see a message from his mom.
