Report From City’s Select Committee On Business Delayed

Monday, February 6, 2012 @ 4:10 AM

Prince George, B.C. – One of Prince George Mayor Shari Green’s first directives upon taking office was to establish a Select Committee on Business for a ‘temperature-taking’ of local businesses…

Green wanted to know what the City is doing right in terms of creating an ‘open for business’ environment, and where it needed to improve.  Green is the City’s rep, and also appointed 20 other community representatives.

According to the committee’s Terms of Reference, it was supposed to report back to City Council by the end of January.  In report to Council on this evening’s agenda, Co-Chairs, David Livingstone and Janine North, say the committee has completed its report, but neither the chairs nor Mayor Green are available to present its findings in-person this evening.

They are now scheduled to do so on February 20th.

“neither the chairs nor Mayor Green are available to present its findings in-person this evening.”

It is called logistics. Is Council cancelled too because the Mayor is not there?

Is this an indicator of how business is conducted in PG?

Are the “chairs” and Shariff Green all vacationing in the same sunny spot ?
Quick…make a list of everyone that is still here.

“Is this an indicator of how business is conducted in PG?”

It may be an indicator of how well the mayor, council and administration are functioning at the ivory towers of City Hall. Something that was due more than a week ago is being put on hold, again. If the chairs and the mayor are not available a suggestion could be made that the co-chairs make a verbal report to the acting mayor, submit the written report and all of it will be recorded and entered into the minutes. Green can peruse it and comment on it at a later date…

There, that was easy!

Sounds like a parallel to IPG. Guess there can never be enough informationto to do the work for the lazy business community.
Cheers

Uh did anyone talk to the current business people or the any business people.Probably forgot this important detail and they now realize maybe they should talk to a few people who have some knowledge of dealing with city hall.
