Chip Truck Fire Closes Hwy 16 West
Prince George, BC – Traffic has been impacted on Highway 16-West overnight by a spectacular vehicle fire…
Right now, Ministry of Transportation officials say the route is completely closed approximately one-kilometre east of Bednesti Lake, with no detour available, to allow for clean-up. The estimated time of re-opening is expected to be 10am.
RCMP say a fully-loaded B-train, carrying wood chips, caught fire at the side of the road about 2am this morning. Staff-Sergeant Tom Bethune says the truck driver was not injured, but he says the truck was outside the fire district area and no fire department responded.
Highway officials had the route open to single-lane, alternating traffic through the night, but, according to www.drivebc.ca, it’s once again completely closed.
