City’s Supervisor of Transportation and Engineering, Heather Andreychuk, receives certificate from Acting Mayor Garth Frizzell

Prince George, BC – City Council took a few moments at the start of this evening’s meeting to recognize a recent achievement attained by the City’s Supervisor of Transportation and Engineering…

Heather Andreychuk has received the ASTTBC’s Professional Leadership Award for Women in Technology.  Andreychuk is a member of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC, and, as such, works to promote careers in applied science and technology careers for women.

Andreychuk has been with the City of Prince George since 2006.  She currently oversees the design and project management of the capital projects.  She was the project manager for the two recent major bridge projects in the city and is currently supervising the new Boundary Road Connector as part of the development of a light industrial park at the airport.

In congratulating Andreychuk on her award, Acting Mayor Garth Frizzel says she is "the most fitting recipient."

Do they have a special award for “men in technology”? What a condenscending award. You are hereby awarded this award, in spite, of being a woman.

Heather is well deserving of this award. She is a wonderfully intelligent and kind person.

It is a sad day when we have special awards for women but we do need to promote to girls and women that they can succeed in the stereotypical male dominated careers. The more women we get working at jobs that males have traditionally held the better the workplace will be for those women.

I have friends who work in male dominated industries and it is not easy for them because of their gender.
