Kidnapping Charges Laid Against PG Pair

Monday, February 6, 2012 @ 8:43 PM

Prince George, B.C. – Two Prince George residents – a woman and man – are in jail pending their court appearances tomorrow to face charges in connection with allegedly holding a wheelchair-bound man against his will.

Prince George RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says officers received information on Friday that a 38-year-old city man was being held against his will.

Corporal Douglass says police attended a residence in the 73-hundred block of Thompson Drive and located the victim, who is in a wheelchair due to a medical condition.  They also arrested a 39-year-old woman in the residence.

Douglass says further investigation led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man, who police allege was threatening the victim to recant a statement he had provided to police on another incident.

39-year-old Grace Ingrid Heidemann and 28-year-old Edward Thomas Harris are charged with four counts in connection with the incident – forcible confinement, kidnapping, intimidation of a Justice System participant, and uttering threats.

They’ve both been remanded in custody until a scheduled court appearance tomorrow.

Pure class.

…..remanded in custody until a scheduled court appearance tomorrow (at which time the judge will allow the “accused” to go free on their own recognizance and with a promise to appear in March or April this year and at that time the judge will sentence them to one day in jail and eighteen months probation). One day in jail? Why does Harper need more jails? A guarded room at a cheap motel somewhere in the lesser posh area of PG for a day would suffice. Maybe that is why when asked by the Chamber of Commerce in an election rally, “How would you reduce crime in PG”? You have one minute to answer. It took me longer than a minute to write this. The world is stupid. Except you and I.

How brave would this pair of stupids be if their prey were not confined to a wheelchair?
metalman.

“forcible confinement, kidnapping, intimidation of a Justice System participant, and uttering threats.”

Impressive and very serious sounding charges! What will become of them?

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

I sincerely hope the judge in this matter addresses the gravity of this situation in a way that will satisfy us, the public.

The judge has no sense of gravity. Each case is judged on it’s own merits. Based on the history of our courts and how many names in the newspaper that get one day in jail and probation, the die has been cast. Oh for the days when they had “hangin’ judges”.

“Forcible confinement, kidnapping, intimidation of a Justice System participant, and uttering threats”? A good lawyer two days after being admitted to the bar can get all these “charges” watered down to just a teeny weeny charge of mischief. Just wait.
