Prince George, B.C. – National Sweater Day, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund to take action against climate change, is taking place today, with the City of Prince George participating.

 

Several of the City’s buildings and floors at City Hall will be turning down the temperature a few degrees to save energy and costs. Mr. PG has joined in by donning a sweater for the week to let Prince George residents know that they can save energy and money by lowering the heat on their thermostat.

 

By rethinking how we use energy and how much we use, we can make a difference on climate change. If every Canadian lowered the heat a few degrees this winter, it would be equivalent to taking 300,000 vehicles off the road. Putting on a sweater can save energy, save money, and help the environment!

 

"Municipalities are taking the lead on addressing climate change, and the City of Prince George was recently recognized by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Partners for Climate Protection program for our efforts to reduce the impact both at in our own operations and within our community," said Adrian Mohareb, Community Energy Program Manager for the City of Prince George.
