Air Quality Expected To Improve, But Advisory Still In Place
Prince George, BC – An air quality advisory will remain in effect until at least tomorrow morning in the city of Prince George…
Ministry of Environment Air Pollution Meteorologist, Dennis Fudge, says levels of both fine particulates and coarse particulates remain above the recommended provincial air quality objective at both the Plaza 400 downtown monitoring site and the BCR industrial site. The levels have fallen back into acceptable ranges in College Heights.
Fudge says a change in weather this evening is expected to further improve the situation. He says a weak disturbance will move into the area, knocking out the stagnant upper high pressure ridge that’s been trapping the particulate in the airshed. Although Fudge points out higher particulate levels and odour are expected this evening as this weather disturbance approaches Prince George.
Based on air quality data, this first advisory of the year is mainly due to a combination of wood smoke, emissions from industry, and road dust.
