Earlier Problem Slowing Internet Service

Prince George, BC – Opinion250 is experiencing some ongoing problems this afternoon, as a result of a situation that’s arisen with our internet service provider, ABC Communications.
Company President Chris Allen offers these details:
"At approximately 11:30 AM Thursday Feb 9th one of the many customer websites that are hosted at ABC had a security flaw exploited in it. The people responsible then used this security hole to attack a third party’s web site with the intention of bringing that site down.
This caused a massive amount of internet traffic to be created on our network which slowed things to a crawl.
Our system administrators went into action immediately and isolated the issue within 15 minutes resulting in the return of all services. We have since limited the amount of traffic that can be generated through any individual website so this issue cannot be duplicated.
My apologies for the inconvenience I am sure this has caused. We are proud of our network uptime, however issues like this are difficult to plan for. Thank you for your understanding."

Which site was being attacked, and why?
Denial of service, the hackers use that one all the time. There doesn’t even have to be a specific reason.
Did O250 ever find the hacker with O250’s website before? Have not heard back on that one? Were they able to attain the person’s address from Shaw? Hope so.
